I was blessed with very good teachers, amazing friends, and more than anything, a peaceful and positive environment that shaped who I am today.
This campus was not just a place to study, it was a place to grow, learn, and create lifelong memories.

As a student, I once shared our plan for organising the 1st National Student conference at Nitte for mechanical engineers. After patiently hearing, sir was like "Karthik, we must think big. Let us bring in industry experts & make it truly National". His vision & support left a lasting impression.
I also recall his sense of humour- during our farewell(ring ceremony)when I said "this ring ensures we are married to our profession" he smiled & responded "students you are always married to your spouse", reminding us importance of family!

In 2009, I entered K.S. Hegde as an MBBS student; today, as an Associate Professor in General Medicine, I recognize the privilege of living a visionary legacy rooted in education and healing. His humility built not just institutions, but compassion.
Though the curtain has fallen, his light guides us still.

My relationship with Sri NVHegde from 2002 to 2025 was very special. In 2012, had he not encouraged me, I would not have take Principal's position. He visited with his family twice to my residence. I attended several hundred meetings with him. To quote one incidence held recently, he came to Nitte just to instruct that the decision taken about implementation of new Computer maintenance policy in the previous day's meeting at NDU has to be delayed by 6 months only to help a localite, I could see tears in the localite hearing this.

The end of an era.
I was just 17 in 1991 when I first met him seeking a BDS seat at ABSMIDS. He embraced me, blessed me, and every time I met him thereafter, he was warm, patient, and attentive—always offering guidance, solutions, and solace.

Deep condolences to Sri Vinaya Hegde Ji. I had the honour of receiving my Ph.D. convocation certificate from him. As we were the first batch of Ph.D. scholars at NITTE University, he extended immense support and guidance during the initial phase of our doctoral journey. I also had the opportunity to meet him personally during the admission process; he was a polite, humble, and down-to-earth person who addressed issues with remarkable ease and clarity.

I’m an alumni and an ex faculty of ABSMIDS. I always remember with fondness how honorable Sir addressed me as someone working with him. He never said we worked under him.
Soon after my results came, i happened to see Sir in Sree Rathnam canteen. I told him i had cleared the exams. He asked me to meet him in his office. I didn’t even know i would be offered a job. Such was his kindness and compassion. I always wrote to Sir saying a person like Him should never age and be granted eternity.
His warmth will always be carried in my heart

SRI VINAYA HEGDE SIR, was a role model in every aspect of life,for me. A person to whom I have highest respect ®ards next only to my parents. Sir had offered me a job in 1993 eventhogh there was no vacancy, supported me through out my career.
